Police in Newark are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the city's North Ward on Saturday afternoon.
Preliminary reports indicated that the shooting took place around 4 p.m. in the 900 block of Franklin Avenue, near the tip of Branch Brook Park.
Upon receiving reports of gunfire in the area, officers promptly arrived at the scene.
They discovered shell casings, but after conducting a thorough search of the vicinity, no victims were found.
Detectives from the Newark Police Major Crimes Shooting Team were called to the scene to investigate the incident.
No victims have been reported in connection with the incident.
The suspect, believed to be involved in the shooting, fled the scene and remains at large.
Authorities are actively working to gather more information about the incident as they continue their investigation.
