Paterson law enforcement is actively searching for a suspect involved in a Saturday shooting incident within the city's limits that resulted in property damage.
It occurred around 8:15 p.m. in the 50's block of North 8th Street, where a ShotSpotter device was activated, alerting officers to the shooting.
Upon arrival, police discovered evidence of a shooting, with a vehicle in the area having sustained damage from the gunfire.
During their investigation at the scene, authorities at St. Joseph's Medical Center alerted officers to a male victim who had entered the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his chest.
At the time, the victim was conscious and alert, and his injury did not appear to be life-threatening.
According to reports, the gunman fired approximately half a dozen rounds in the direction of the victim before fleeing the scene.
As of now, the suspect remains at large, and the motive behind the attack is currently under an active and ongoing investigation.
