Authorities in Newark request the public’s help identifying the male suspect in connection with a package theft that occurred on Thursday, October 19, that was caught on video.
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé stated that a victim reported that a package delivered to a residence in the 600 block of South 19th Street was stolen at approximately 11:38 a.m.
Police observed the victim’s surveillance camera footage, which shows the suspect removing the package and placing it into a bookbag before fleeing, officials stated.
Authorities say The stolen package contained clothing items purchased from JCPenney.
According to officials, detectives investigating this incident describe the male suspect as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt under a light-colored denim jacket.
He was also wearing dark sunglasses, a black cap with a logo, light-colored jeans, Timberland construction boots, and carrying a red backpack, officials said.
