Authorities in Newark request the public’s help with identifying the suspects, who were captured on surveillance video firing weapons in the middle of a neighborhood street on October 7.
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said at approximately 11:25 p.m., the suspects, both males, were walking in the 50 block of Astor Street when they stopped and began firing weapons.
According to officials, the shots struck two unoccupied vehicles, and the suspects fled eastbound on Astor toward Pennsylvania Avenue.
One of them was wearing a grey hoodie sweatshirt, light blue jeans, white sneakers, and a ski mask, officials stated.
Officials said the other suspect was wearing all-black clothing, a hoodie sweatshirt, pants, sneakers, and a ski mask.
Police responded to the incident, authorities say, and located three 9mm casings, a .380 casing, and two vehicles struck by the gunfire.
Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the suspects to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
