Middlesex County authorities are currently probing the motive behind a shooting that occurred on Saturday evening in Carteret.
Preliminary reports indicated that around 7 p.m., Carteret police responded to reports of shots fired in the 40s block of Pulaski Avenue.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered an individual who had sustained a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Currently, no information is available regarding the victim's condition.
Law enforcement has not yet provided details about whether they are actively seeking a suspect in connection with the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.
