Newark Police are looking for a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting at a housing complex in the Central Ward.
At approximately 11:17 a.m., the Newark Police Department received reports of a person shot in the vicinity of 195 First Street, known as The Garden Spires housing complex.
Swiftly responding to the emergency call, police units arrived at the scene to find a female victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to her leg.
Fortunately, the injury was non-life-threatening, providing a measure of relief in an otherwise distressing situation.
The injured woman was promptly transported to University Hospital for medical treatment, where she is expected to make a full recovery.
Despite their swift response, the suspect managed to evade capture and fled the scene, leaving law enforcement authorities in Newark to locate and apprehend the individual responsible for this morning's shooting.
