Newark

Ad By: Richard L. Smith

Brace yourselves, Newark and North Jersey! It's going to be a super soaker of a Friday, with heavy rain and possible thunderstorms on the horizon into Saturday.

National Weather Service meteorologists say the forecast calls for showers throughout the day, accompanied by the potential for thunderstorms, some of which could bring intense downpours.

With a high temperature expected to reach around 62 degrees, this rainy day won't be a pleasant one for outdoor activities.

Northeast winds at approximately 15 mph will accompany the precipitation, making it feel even cooler.

The National Weather Service estimates a high chance of precipitation at 90%. In terms of rainfall amounts, be prepared for a substantial drenching, with new accumulations ranging between 2 to 3 inches possible.

Road safety is paramount today, as the heavy rains increase the risk of hazardous driving conditions.

The persistent downpours pose a genuine concern for local flooding, particularly in the Wilson Avenue section of the Ironbound.

With a humidity level of 93% and a northeast wind speed of 13 mph, NWS forecasters say conditions are ripe for substantial rainfall.

Remember to stay weather-aware throughout the day, and if you must venture out, exercise caution and allow for extra travel time. We will have multiple rounds of rainfall throughout the day and into Saturday.

This weather event is more than just a minor inconvenience; it has the potential to impact our daily routines significantly. Stay dry and stay safe, Newark!
