Thomas Petronglo, 64, of Vineland, New Jersey, was sentenced to 24 months in prison today for possessing a destructive device and explosive materials, as revealed by U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger.
Federal officials said Petronglo had earlier admitted his guilt before U.S. District Judge Robert B. Kugler, facing charges of possession of a destructive device and unlawful storage of explosives.
The ruling took place in Camden federal court.
Court records indicate that on March 12, 2021, Petronglo was discovered with a destructive device—a metal can measuring 5 ¾ inches in diameter—filled with an explosive blend of potassium perchlorate and aluminum.
Furthermore, he had several improvised explosive devices and explosive substances at his home.
Besides his incarceration, Petronglo will undergo three years of supervised release.
