Charles Sanders, a 28-year-old resident of Newark, was arrested for shoplifting at a Bloomfield Home Depot located at 60 Orange Street.
According to the store's Loss Prevention Officer, Sanders concealed an Amazon Echo and an Amazon Fire Stick in his clothing before exiting the store without purchasing.
The stolen items were valued at around $200.
Officers were quickly able to locate Sanders and place him under arrest.
He was then transported to the Bloomfield Police Department for further processing.
Reports say Sanders is suspected of being involved in multiple shoplifting incidents across various businesses in the Essex County region.
The arrest serves as a reminder for businesses to stay vigilant, especially with retail theft rates affecting Bloomfield communities.
