It's a rainy start to the week in Newark and the broader North Jersey region as showers move through the area. Residents woke up to the pitter-patter of raindrops, making Monday feel rather typical for a rainy day.

According to The National Weather Service, the rain is expected to continue through the morning hours, with the heaviest and most soaking rain occurring during the morning commute.

However, it's not all bad news, as the rain is forecasted to taper off later in the day.

Temperatures are relatively mild, with the mercury hovering in the 60s, providing some relief from the recent heat. Humidity levels are on the higher side at 93%, adding to the dampness in the air.

As the day progresses, NWS forecasters said the rain is expected to become less intense, and the region might even see some breaks in the clouds.

Nevertheless, residents are advised to keep their umbrellas handy, as scattered showers may persist throughout the day.
