Carjacking Suspect Apprehended by Newark Police After Late-Night Incident

Newark law enforcement officers successfully captured a suspect involved in a carjacking incident late Friday night.

The incident unfolded when Newark officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Brunswick Street around 9:47 p.m. in response to reports of a carjacking in progress.

Upon their arrival, police learned from the victim that a male suspect had forcibly taken their vehicle and swiftly fled the scene. Fortunately, no weapons were reported to have been involved in the incident.

The stolen vehicle, described as a silver Honda Accord with New Jersey license plate number C32-RBR, became the focus of a city-wide search.

Diligent and observant Newark Police officers patrolling the Ironbound section of Newark made a breakthrough in the case.

At approximately 4 a.m., they located the stolen vehicle with one person inside near the intersection of Union Avenue and Ferry Street, close to the Walgreens store.

The suspect was taken into custody without any further incident.

No physical injuries were reported as a result of the carjacking or the subsequent arrest.

Police continue to investigate the incident to gather more details about the suspect and the circumstances surrounding the carjacking.
