Alvin Wyatt, a 35-year-old Atlantic City resident, has been handed a 70-year prison term by The Honorable Judge Donna M. Taylor, J.S.C., following his conviction for a fatal shooting at a Pleasantville High School football game in 2019.
According to The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Wyatt, found guilty by a jury in July, will need to serve at least 85% of his sentence before being considered for parole.
The harrowing incident occurred on November 15, 2019, when Wyatt unleashed a barrage of eight bullets into the game's bleachers filled with spectators.
Among the victims, a 10-year-old boy, M.T., suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the neck while attending the game with his family.
Although he underwent multiple surgeries, the young boy tragically passed away a few days later.
Another victim, Ibn Abdullah, 31, was struck three times, leading to injuries that have since left him wheelchair-bound.
A 15-year-old spectator, C.G., was also injured after a bullet hit his arm.
Authorities quickly responded, and officers from the Pleasantville Police Department arrested Wyatt as he tried to escape the scene.
The extensive investigation that led to Wyatt's conviction was a collaborative effort between the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit, the Pleasantville Police Department, the Atlantic City Police Department, the Absecon Police Department, and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
