Authorities in Newark request the public’s help with identifying the suspect who broke into a food store and stole 60 cartons of Newport cigarettes on September 8.
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé reported that police responded to the incident, which occurred at approximately 4:10 a.m. at Krauszer’s Food Store & Deli, located in the 200 block of Halsey Street.
Authorities say the suspect was captured on surveillance video entering the store after breaking its window with a rock.
Once inside, officials said, he climbed over the counter and took dozens of Newport 100 cigarettes valued at around $720.
Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
