Newark authorities responded to reports of shots fired in the North Ward around 4:30 p.m.
The incident unfolded near the intersection of 6th Avenue and North 13th Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered several shell casings in the middle of the street, indicating gunfire had erupted in the area.
The investigation revealed that during the officers’ search of the area, they found an unidentified male victim near 42 North 12th Street, suffering from gunshot wounds to the face and leg.
Police swiftly cordoned off two crime scenes to investigate.
The suspect responsible for this shooting managed to flee the scene and is currently at large.
The victim is receiving medical treatment and the extent of his condition remains undisclosed.
