Conagra Brands, Inc., based in Marshall, Missouri, has initiated a recall of approximately 245,366 pounds of frozen chicken strips entree products due to concerns of potential contamination with foreign materials, specifically plastic pieces.
This recall notice has been made by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The frozen chicken strips entrees were manufactured on three specific dates: June 20, 2023, July 11, 2023, and July 17, 2023.
The following products fall under the recall:
- 8.9-oz. carton containing a single "BANQUET CHICKEN STRIPS MEAL" entree, with "DEC 11 2024," "JAN 01 2025," or "JAN 07 2025" indicated as the best if used by dates. The lot numbers to look for are 5009317120, 5009319220, or 5009319820, located on the side of the carton.
FSIS officials said the affected products bear the establishment number "EST. P-9" printed on the side of the carton. These items were distributed to various retail locations across the nation and were also available for purchase online.
The recall was prompted by the discovery of a consumer complaint received by the firm, notifying FSIS about plastic particles found in the chicken strip section of the product.
FSIS officials said this incident was associated with an oral injury following consumption.
While no additional reports of injury or illness related to these products have been received by FSIS, individuals who have consumed the product and are concerned about potential injury or illness are advised to consult a healthcare provider.
The recall underscores the importance of food safety and consumer well-being in product consumption.
