Bergen County Line train 1171, a regular route from Hoboken to Suffern, NY, turned tragic on Thursday evening as it struck and fatally injured a pedestrian just west of Radburn Station in Fair Lawn.
NJ Transit officials have launched a thorough investigation into the incident.
According to a statement released by NJ Transit, the incident occurred around 6:52 p.m., prompting a swift response from New Jersey Transit Police and other emergency services.
The train departed Hoboken at 6:23 p.m., carrying around 300 passengers and crew members. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the passengers and crew.
Transit officials said that due to the incident, trains in the area experienced 30-minute delays to accommodate the ongoing investigation.
