Wifepreneur Tip: Why Change Is Necessary

New Jersey

By: O.L./Sway Buckley

I've been feeling unsettled.

When I find myself in this state, I know it's a sign to do some self-reflection and ask questions I haven't had time to think about just yet.

This is why headspace is so essential. I spoke about it here in a previous article.

Lately, I've been contemplating why we do some things in a particular way in our marriage & business. I've realized that some of the practices no longer serve where we are going, but because they are customary, they've become habits.

Team ThomasThis can run the gamut from a cleaning method to an aspect of a coaching program.

Nothing is off limits, which makes this a comprehensive personal think tank. Whenever I give into this desire to shift what is out of place, I always grow a little bit more.

And guess what?

Everyone around me grows, too, including my husband.

I used to get bothered that we weren't wired the same way, but over the years, I've come to understand our callings and skills to support those callings are often uniquely different. So, I've learned to lean into what is organic for me, even if it isn't for my husband.

Success-Mapping CallFor instance, I'm often the one who thinks in broad strokes with my ideas on how things can be done better. He usually thinks in deep, focused segments and mines rich nuggets of wisdom that only come with time and thoughtfulness.

I admire that about him. At the same time, it was the same thing that made me impatient when he wasn't tracking with one of my ideas.

When it's time to make a change, discomfort is often the catalyst. It's a sign that it's time to grow. If you're a wifepreneur with a strong entrepreneurial driver, you can understand the tension that can come from leading with your influence- which doesn't substitute a husband's headship.

It's a delicate balance of presenting growth opportunities, all while considering the capacity of your spouse.
