The day started with another round of rain, as precipitation with thunderstorms began falling around 4:15 a.m., accompanied by intense downpours in various parts of Newark and North Jersey.
East Orange, Harrison, Clifton and Elizabeth also experienced heavy rain as the system moved through North Jersey Friday morning.
The National Weather Service said the outlook for the afternoon is much brighter.
The rain is expected to taper off as the day progresses, making way for improved conditions.
Earlier in the day, showers and a possible thunderstorm are likely before 8 a.m.
According to The National Weather Service, the forecast reveals a chance of showers and thunderstorms from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. As the day unfolds, the sky is predicted to become partly sunny, with a high temperature near 82 degrees.
The wind will be coming from the west at speeds of 9 to 15 mph.
The humidity level in Newark and North Jersey is measured at 85%, and the barometric pressure stands at 29.70 inches.
Despite the wet start, the afternoon is anticipated to be more pleasant and conducive to outdoor activities.
