Newark Police established a perimeter within a North Ward neighborhood as law enforcement officials conducted a residence search this evening, hunting for a suspect linked to a shooting incident.
Around 6:40 p.m., the sound of gunfire reverberated through the area near 147 South 8th Street.
Upon police arrival, they encountered a teenage female victim who had sustained gunshot wounds, including one to her face.
The unidentified female male was expeditiously transported a short distance to University Hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, officers continued their meticulous examination of the scene of the shooting. Presently, the victim's condition is reported to be stable.
Despite an exhaustive sweep of the community, the shooting suspect remains elusive and has not yet been apprehended.
Ascertaining the motive behind the shooting is a focal point of the active and ongoing investigations.
