What is BALANCE?
As a noun:
an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady
As a verb.
keep or put (something) in a steady position so it does not fall.
Can you see how either of these definitions may be problematic and have us chasing perfection?
So, in life as married entrepreneurs, Is BALANCE even real?
Our experience would say No, it isn't.
Here's why:
➡️When we pursue something without a metric, how do you know when it's attained?
➡️Also, as seasons change, so do our individual and collective needs for marriage and business.
If we use a 'balance metric' today based on last year's capacity, focus, and desires, we will pursue a metric that will only keep us 'out of balance.'
So what do we do about being 'balanced' today?
A term we like to use in place of 'balance' is BLEND.
The blend is (verb):
mix (a substance) with another substance so that they combine.
Noun: a mixture of different things or qualities.
Blending, to us, is a flexible and pliable 'scale' to measure what is needed and how to deliver it. It's a delicate 'balance' of knowing where to lean in and where to pause. It requires self-awareness, flexibility with one another, and all of the unforeseen that life brings.
We discuss this in detail in Season 3, Episode 24 of the Marriedpreneur Life podcast. You can take a listen HERE.
