A pedestrian was severely injured after a vehicle struck them at an intersection in Newark's West Ward Sunday morning.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the area of South Orange Avenue and South 12th Street to investigate reports of a pedestrian hit by a car around 1:35 a.m.
Upon arrival, rescue crews found the male victim under an SUV suffering severe injuries.
The unidentified man was extricated and then rushed to University Hospital for treatment. His injuries were only reported as serious.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by Newark Police officials.
