A 50-year-old man from Williamstown, New Jersey, has been extradited back to New York to face charges related to the alleged rape of a 14-year-old at Strong Memorial Hospital in April.
The suspect, identified as Mr. Michael H. Robertson, was the subject of an intensive investigation by authorities after he left Rochester and returned to his home in New Jersey following the incident.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said Robertson was eventually located and apprehended in New Jersey with the valuable assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.
Upon being located, MCSO officials said the extradition process commenced, and on July 20, Robertson was transported back to New York to face the charges against him.
He now faces accusations of rape in the second degree and sexual abuse in the third degree.
According to Monroe County Sheriff's Department deputies, Robertson was promptly arraigned in Monroe County Court. The court set bail at $50,000 cash or $150,000 bond, leading to Robertson's remand to the Monroe County Jail.
It is crucial to remember that Mr. Robertson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
