University Hospital doctors are working on a male gunshot victim who was found in Newark’s West Ward this evening.
Residents in the 300 block of 14th Avenue said they heard several shots fired near South 19th Street before 8 p.m.
Police arrived and found the seriously injured male suffering gunshot wounds.
The victim was shot in the 400 block of South 19th Street.
Authorities believe two black males fled the scene on motorized bikes after the shooting. They remain at large.
No other injuries were reported.
