One person suffered serious injuries in a Newark shooting Monday.
Early morning gunfire rang out near the intersection of South 9th Street and 11th Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m., prompting a police investigation.
When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering gunshot wounds and requested EMS to rush to the scene.
The victim was taken to University Hospital for treatment while police searched the lower West Ward neighborhood for other victims.
No other injuries were reported and the suspect remains at large.
