After a night of severe weather and heavy rain, the Newark and North Jersey region is expected to rebound from the challenging conditions.

As the day progresses, North Jersey residents can anticipate improvements in the weather, although flood threats in certain areas may persist.

According to The National Weather Service, today's forecast indicates a chance of rain and thunderstorms before 11 am, followed by a continued chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the day.

Some of these storms may bring heavy rainfall, contributing to ongoing flood concerns, especially on Wilson Avenue and Avenue P in Newark's East Ward.

NWS meteorologist said patchy fog is also expected before 8 am, adding to the atmospheric conditions of the morning.

However, as the day unfolds, NWS forecasters say the skies will gradually transition from cloudy to mostly sunny. The high temperature is forecasted to be near 83 degrees, accompanied by a northwest wind ranging from 5 to 10 mph.

While the humidity remains high at 87 percent, the weather conditions are expected to improve compared to the previous night. NWS forecasters say the chance of precipitation is estimated at 40 percent, indicating a slightly lower likelihood of rain and thunderstorms.
