National Weather Service meteorologists say residents in the Newark and North Jersey region can expect a partly sunny day with a chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon.

NWS declared that the weather forecast indicates a 30 percent chance of precipitation after 2 p.m., with some storms potentially bringing heavy rain.

Although the day will start with patchy fog before 8 a.m., conditions will gradually improve, leading to partly sunny skies.

According to NWS forecasters, the high temperature for the day is expected to reach near 88 degrees, accompanied by a calm wind in the morning, which will later become southeast at 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

While the humidity remains high at 88 percent, today's weather is considered more favorable than the Sunday forecast, which predicts rainfall throughout the day.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the better conditions today and make the most of outdoor activities.
