How many times have you heard not to keep a score or a record of wrongs in marriage?
For me, it's been more than I can count.
The idea of being in a healthy marriage in light of having a constant focus on your spouse's mistakes made is virtually impossible. (This is even more true when you work with your spouse, so there are more chances to miss the mark).
However, I've learned that there are times when keeping score works to our benefit.
Let me explain.
Comfort can give way to complacency.
In marriage and business, that mindset can invite stagnation to be the expected end. If we're not intentionally growing, we are, by default reacting.
Each week in our legacy meetings, we 'keep score' by taking inventory of our marriage and business, and it's a vibe.
We've found that as we do this, it keeps us sharp and on our toes.
We learn lessons as we 'take score' each week. They are as follows:
- We often underestimate what it will take to get something done, which can lead to feeling like a failure.
- It reminds us to celebrate the baby steps each week. We may not be where we want to be, but we can be grateful for wherever we are.
- We can see cycles and be aware of triggers that impact our performance. Self-awareness is key. Next, we can assist our spouse in areas overlooked as well.
I wanted to share this with you because sometimes it's good to keep score- but only for the above purposes. If you're a marriedpreneur couple seeking to 'keep score' with routine legacy meetings.
