The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit has confirmed an investigation into a shooting that left a male victim dead in Jersey City Saturday night.
It happened around 8 p.m. in the area of Coles Street and 16th Street.
A preliminary investigation indicated that police responded to the area after receiving reports of shots fired.
First arriving officers found the unconscious and unresponsive victim suffering multiple gunshot wounds at that location.
Officials said the unidentified male was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Jersey City Medical Center.
The motive for the shooting is under an active and ongoing investigation.
No arrests have been made.
