Police recovered a carjacked vehicle at the scene of a shots-fired incident in Newark's West Ward Friday night.
A ShotSpotter device activated in the vicinity of 531 18th Avenue, prompting police to the area to investigate. Upon arrival, police found shell casings near West Side Park.
Reports say police began searching for a gray Dodge Charger wanted for firing multiple shots during the incident.
A man frantically ran into the Queen of Sheba Grand Chaoter requesting assistance after saying the gunmen were outside and wanted to kill him.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
No injuries were reported.
