Police in Newark are investigating the motive behind a shooting that erupted in the South Ward Tuesday afternoon.
A ShotSpotter device activated and alerted police of a shooting near 35 Hansford Street around 3:38 p.m.
Several officers arrived and found shell casings and a weapon in the 200 block of Dayton Street.
After canvassing the neighborhood, no injuries were reported.
A suspect was detained by police and is believed to be the shooter.
