NJ State Police officials are investigating a crash that killed two individuals on a highway in Bergen County Sunday morning. NJ State Police Sergeant Phillip Curry said the collision occurred at 12:08 am in the northbound lanes of the NJ Turnpike extension near mile marker 120 in Teaneck.
According to Sergeant Curry, a preliminary investigation revealed that a Plymouth and a Jeep Cherokee were traveling north when the Jeep impacted the rear of the Plymouth.
As a result of the crash, both vehicles became engulfed in fire.
Sergeant Curry said two occupants in the Plymouth sustained fatal injuries but positive identification is pending.
The two occupants in the Jeep sustained minor non-life threatening injuries. Sergeant Curry said the roadway was closed for 4.5 hours resulting in minor traffic.
The crash remains under investigation.
