On Sunday, an early morning shooting in Newark's South Ward sent one person to the hospital.
Police rushed to the area of Frelinghuysen Avenue and Toler Place to investigate reports of shots fired around 1:37 a.m.
Units arrived and found an unidentified person suffering bullet wounds at that location.
The victim was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition while detectives canvassed the area for additional victims and evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
No other injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.
