EMS transported a teenage boy to University Hospital suffering a serious gunshot this evening in the Central Ward.
Police responded to 90’s block of Boyd Street to investigate reports of a person shot around 5:20 p.m.
Units arrived and requested EMS to rush to the scene after they located a boy, around 13- years-old, with a bullet wound to his lower extremities.
The extent of his injuries has not been confirmed.
There is a second crime scene in the 70’s block of Hayes Street with another person reportedly en route to the hospital by private vehicle:
Newark Police will handle the investigation at this time.
