Police reported property damage in a shots-fired incident in Newark's South Ward Saturday.
The broad-daylight shooting happened around 4 p.m. in the vicinity of 161 Hillside Avenue.
According to a preliminary investigation, a ShotSpotter device alerted police to several rounds of gunfire in the South Ward neighborhood.
When cops arrived to investigate, they found several shell casings on the ground.
A further search of the area revealed a house and a car damaged by stray bullets, but no injuries were reported.
The suspect fled the scene and no arrests have been reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
