Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit is investigating a sexual assault and robbery that occurred inside a Jersey City store on Wednesday, May 10.
According to Prosecutor Suarez, at approximately 8:24 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a 911 call reporting a sexual assault.
Prosecutor Suarez said the 63-year-old victim reported an unknown male entered a business on West Side Avenue – south of Communipaw Avenue – where he robbed and sexually assaulted her.
Authorities withheld the exact location of the assault is being withheld at this time to protect the identity of the victim and the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
This matter is actively being investigated by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
