Police in Atlantic County arrested Mr. Sadman Sakib, 26, of Egg Harbor Township, and Mr. Jamiel Basir, 42, of Mays Landing, for multiple narcotics and firearms-related offenses as a result of a joint investigation by the several Atlantic County law enforcement departments.
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds, on April 25, police executed five search warrants in the 100 block of Azalea Lane in Egg Harbor Township, the 1500 building of Ben Franklin Court in Mays Landing Village Complex, a business in the 300 block of the White Horse Pike in Egg Harbor City, a Chevrolet Blazer SUV, and a Toyota Camry.
As a result of the investigation, detectives seized approximately eight pounds of marijuana, four pounds of THC-infused edible items, 100 THC vape cartridges, a significant amount of narcotics production and packaging materials, digital scales, a 12-gauge shotgun, a .40 caliber handgun, two high-capacity ammunition magazines each containing hollow point ammunition, and approximately $50,000.00 in U.S. currency.
Prosecutor Reynolds said both Jamiel Basir and Sadman Sakib were criminally charged on a warrant with second-degree distribution of over five pounds of marijuana, second-degree possession with the intent to distribution over five pounds of marijuana, third-degree possession of CDS, fourth-degree possession of marijuana over six ounces, second-degree possession of a handgun while committing a CDS related offense, third-degree money laundering, and first-degree maintaining or operating a narcotics production facility.
Both men were later lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on the warrants.
Prosecutor Reynolds said these charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt. In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
