Over a dozen police officers swarmed a city building this morning in search of a worker who reportedly pulled a weapon during a dispute in Newark’s South Ward.
Police surrounded 94 William Street at 10 a.m. and took Ms. Farha Sharif, 44, of Newark in custody.
Sharif is an employee in the Newark Senior Services Department.
According to reports, Sharif is being charged with Aggravated Assault after police responded to reports of a person with a gun at an address on Grumman Avenue early Tuesday morning.
Sharif allegedly pulled the weapon on another person during an altercation that appeared domestic in nature.
Police reported no serious injuries and it’s unclear if officers confiscated the weapon from Sharif inside the Health Department building.
The incident is under investigation.
