Authorities in Middlesex County and Carteret Police reported today that a Carteret man has been charged in connection with the homicide of Juanita Quinones, 77, of Carteret.
Middlesex Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said yesterday, May 1st, at approximately 5:29 p.m., authorities received a 911 call reporting that an individual who appeared to be covered in blood was seen near Taylor Avenue.
According to Prosecutor Ciccone, upon their arrival, officers located Cyril Lloyd, 26, of Carteret, and Lloyd was transported back to his home.
Officials said when officers entered the residence, they discovered the body of Juanita Quinones, 77, of Carteret. Quinones was unresponsive and appeared to have multiple head wounds.
Quinones was pronounced deceased at the scene.
After that, Lloyd was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, officials said.
Authorities say Lloyd is presently lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court.
