Commuters are being advised to avoid the area of Grove Street and Springfield Avenue while detectives investigate a shooting that injured a male this afternoon in Irvington.
Township officials confirmed with RLS Media that a male victim was transported to Newark Beth Israel Hospital by a private vehicle to treat a gunshot wound to his leg around 3:40 p.m.
Officials said they could not immediately confirm if the male shot himself or if a gunman targeted him.
There are police operating at the scene and a detective unit en route to the hospital to question the victim.
No other injuries were reported.
