Burlington County authorities are reporting the arrest of a 22-year-old Glassboro man who has become the second person charged in the fatal shooting of a tenant in the parking lot of the Fox Meadow apartment complex last year.
According to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, the investigation began after officers from the Maple Shade Police Department were called to Fox Meadow the evening of January 16, 2022, for a report of shots fired.
Prosecutor Bradshaw said the victim, Mr. Ezekiel Sanders Jr., 32, was found on Gardenia Drive with gunshot wounds and taken by ambulance to Jefferson Hospital in Cherry Hill, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
An autopsy performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood determined Sanders had been struck in the arm and the chest.
The investigation revealed that a vehicle sped away from the scene after the victim had been shot.
He was taken into custody yesterday at a residence in West Deptford by the U.S. MARSHALS SERVICE New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and lodged in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly.
Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw said Mr. Gregory Berry, of Beau Rivage Drive, was charged with Murder (First Degree), Murder During the Commission of a Crime (First Degree), Robbery (First Degree), Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Second Degree), and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (Second Degree).
Berry’s co-defendant, 23-year-old Teon Macklin-Goodwine of Clementon, was charged in June 2022 with Murder (First Degree), Robbery (First Degree), Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Second Degree), Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (Second Degree) and Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons (Second Degree).
He was detained and placed in the Burlington County Jail.
Berry and Macklin-Goodwine are being prosecuted by BCPO Assistant Prosecutor Matthew Lynch.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
