Earlier today, I asked myself, What role doe Easter play in my marriage?
It's a loaded question for us.
If you didn't know, we are people of faith, Christians, to be exact. So the Easter season is monumental for us who believe. It is a reminder of the greatest gift offered to humanity.
Redemption.
This reminder changes everything for us. One thing it changes is, we now have the mission to live in service to others.
That concept may be unpopular in today's culture, but it's one aspect we are to grow as God helps us do so.
Service isn't cookie-cut. It has various faces. For example, as marriedpreneurs, we serve others using our business each day. Yet, that's only one aspect.
Another one, for instance, was yesterday; we served a community of children with food, games, and prizes with our church. But the greatest gift for us was sharing God's love and His story of redemption with them. It's all service.
Why is this a pillar for everything we do?
As followers of Christ, we have a command to serve because Christ first served us by sacrificing His life for those who receive His grace. This is the crux of the crucifixion (no pun intended).
The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28
The fact that historical writings coincide that over 500 individuals witnessed Christ walking around after his resurrection, and the first eye-witnesses being a woman, who were not esteemed then compared to today in the West- is not only astounding but is a great cause for celebration in every season of life.
In celebration of what has been done on behalf of all who believe, we lead a life of service in all we do. This is the goal. This service is in 3 primary areas.
God: We swerve God by first living in the light of eternity and trusting in Him as our ultimate hope.
Marriage: Charity begins at home. How can we say we are in service yet not serve our spouse first? That's hypocritical.
Others: As recipients of such great grace, it behooves us to share that grace with others as an outpouring of what we have received.
In short, we are called to serve higher together- serving each other as we serve God.
We want to be known as married but seen serving one another and others together.
Happy Easter to you. He is Risen, Indeed!
Here's to living purposefully, powerfully, and profitably in sync,
