Newark Police reported the arrest of three suspects – two from Newark and one from Belleville – and charged them each with robbery.
According to Newark Police, Mr. Kevin A. Banegas-Benitez, 21, of Newark, was charged with robbery and aggravated assault after he stabbed a victim at approximately 2:25 a.m. in the 300 block of Walnut Street on March 24, 2023.
Police say the victim was treated for his injuries at University Hospital, and the suspect was also charged with possession of a weapon and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.
Five hours after that incident, police said Mr. Hannah Karon, 30, of Newark, was arrested and charged with a robbery that occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. at Broad and William streets.
The victim was sitting in his vehicle when Karon entered the back seat at that location. The victim fled, leaving behind his wallet that Karon had in his possession when police arrested him.
According to police, Ms. Samantha Jusino, 31, of Belleville, was wanted for a robbery at approximately 12:50 p.m. on January 30, 2023, at Caribe Supermarket, located at 690 Mt. Prospect Avenue.
Police said Jusino walked into the store, took money from a tip jar, and fled.
After she was identified as the suspect, detectives spotted Jusino at approximately 11 a.m. on March 17, 2023, at Second Avenue and East Broadway.
In addition to robbery, she was charged with resisting arrest when detectives took her into custody.
