The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that their detectives are on the scene of a shooting with one confirmed fatality in Jersey City at this time.
At approximately 6 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department dispatchers received reports of shots fired near 547 Washington Boulevard.
Police arrived at the scene and found a male victim suffering a bullet wound in his head.
Medical professionals pronounced the unidentified, unconscious,and unresponsive male dead shortly after the shooting.
Authorities believe the shooter fled the scene on foot and is at large.
No other injuries have been reported and the investigation is active.
