Police in Newark placed hospitals in the region for potential gunshot victims after a gun battle in the city's West Ward Tuesday.
The early morning shooting happened around 2 a.m. near 186 14th Avenue.
A ShotSpotter device registered over two dozen times alerting police of a shooting near the intersection of 14th Avenue and South 8th Street.
Police arrived and collected about 28 shell casings, including multiple rounds fired from what they believed was a rifle.
Officers canvassed a neighborhood for victims, but no injuries were reported.
The suspects fled the scene and have not been arrested.
