Atlantic County authorities announced that Marquise Milledge, 26, of Millville, was sentenced to five years in state prison with a one-year period of parole ineligibility following his previous guilty plea to unlawful handgun possession.
According to officials, the charges stem from Milledge’s arrest in Atlantic City on July 18, when Milledge was found in possession of two illegal handguns.
Officials say Milledge was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility following his arrest and ordered detained by the court.
At sentencing, Milledge’s attorney requested that the court further depart from the negotiated sentence and instead impose a lengthy term of probation.
The court denied Milledge’s request and agreed with the State that Milledge should be sentenced to a five-year term without being eligible for parole for at least one year.
