Police in Newark took a juvenile male into custody after a foot pursuit in the city's Central Ward Thursday morning.
At approximately 4 a.m., officers came across a Volkswagen Passat with license plates indicating that the car was stolen from a Lyndhurst (Bergen County) location.
Police followed the vehicle through the South Ward and attempted to get the driver to pull over.
The suspect led officers on a pursuit that ended with a bailout near the intersection of Avon and Jeliff avenues.
Newark Officers took the teen into custody after a brief pursuit near The Pilgrim Village Housing complex (159 Avon Avenue).
No injuries were immediately reported, and the suspect was charged with receiving stolen property.
