Plainfield police continue to investigate what lead to a shooting this afternoon in the area of Liberty Street.
At approximately 4;30 p.m., an officer was in the area of Liberty and W. 3rd streets when officer heard a gun shot within the vicinity.
Officers immediately checked the surrounding area and located an adult male with an unspecified gun shot wound, according to police.
The male was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Investigation is ongoing.
