Atlantic County officials announced that Timothy Wright, 42, of Chambersburg, PA, was sentenced today to 55 years in New Jersey State Prison for the 2014 murder of 25-year-old Joyce Vanderhoff.
According to officials, a jury previously convicted Wright of first-degree murder after a two-and-a-half-week- trial that commenced this past October.
Authorities say Wright was charged with strangulating and killing Vanderhoff on February 13, 2014.
Vanderhoff’s naked body was found on the side of Weymouth Road in Hamilton Township the following morning.
According to authorities, Timothy Wright was arrested in 2019 in Pennsylvania and extradited to New Jersey to stand trial.
The 55-year sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act requiring eighty-five percent of the sentence to be served before a defendant is eligible for parole and then a period of parole supervision for five years after release.
