Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced an arrest in the deadly beating of a Jersey City teacher who went missing last week.
At approximately 1 a.m. Friday, Prosecutor Suarez released the following statement:
“An arrest has been made in connection with the death investigation of Luz Hernandez.”
Prosecutor Suarez said the body of a female – later identified as Luz Hernandez, 33, of Jersey City – was recovered a short time later and pronounced dead at the scene at 4:53 p.m.Tuesday after authorities performed a welfare check.
Hernandez was reported missing on Monday, February 6, 2023.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department and the Kearny Police Department.
