On Sunday morning, authorities in Ocean County are investigating the cause of a crash that killed an ATV rider in Lacey Township.
Ocean County officials confirmed that a 58-year-old Jackson man died after an all-terrain vehicle he drove overturned several times in the woods of Lacey Township.
According to police, Mr. Michael D'Amore was traveling in an open dirt area of Lacey Materials when the 2019 Polaris RZR side-by-side ATV he was driving hit a dirt embankment and became airborne.
Police say the ATV impacted the ground with its front end, causing the vehicle to flip end over end several times, according to the Lacey Township Police Department.
According to police, D'Amore was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
